LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA

The YMCA of Youngstown is a provider of the nationally recognized LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program thanks to an implementation grant from YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the Y’s national resource office, in partnership with the LIVESTRONG® Foundation. The 12-week physical activity and well-being initiative helps people affected by cancer reach their holistic health goals. Additionally, programs like LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA are part of the Y’s overall commitment to help cancer survivors recover in a safe and supportive environment.

Delay the Disease

We are starting this NEW program June 1, 2019 at the Davis Family YMCA! Helping Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients manage their symptoms and maintain a quality of life is one of the many reasons we offer OhioHealth Delay the Disease™. OhioHealth's Delay the Disease fitness program is designed to empower people with PD to take control of the disease with daily exercise.

The empowering results of our Delay the Disease exercise program can help participants: Move about with ease and confidence in a crowd; Get out of bed or rise from a chair independently; Improve handwriting; Dress independently; Diminish worry that stiffness, slow steps and other symptoms are obvious; Regain a sense of moving with normality.
